The Cardiac Step-down Unit is a 44 bed unit that provides care to adult patients requiring intermediate monitoring and complex treatments. All beds have telemetry monitoring and bedside cardiac monitors. The Cardiac Step-down Unit cares for a variety of cardiac patients – both surgical and non-surgical.

The oncology unit serves cancer, sickle cell, and general medical patients. Chemo therapy is provided by highly skilled chemo certified nurses.   There is an active Oncology Nurse Society chapter which creates monthly educational opportunities to learn from medical professionals about pharmaceuticals and treatment options. The oncology service line consists of departments such as the Carlton Breast Center, Radiation Oncology, and Outpatient Clinics.  

The pediatric unit is an exciting, unique, intellectually challenging and family centered work environment, specializing in acute care for pediatric patients from the ages 1 day old to 17 years of age.

Inpatient rehab is designed to provide intensive therapy in a hospital environment for patients who, due to the complexity of their nursing, medical management, and rehabilitation needs, require and benefit from the multidisciplinary approach. The nurse is a vital member of the interdisciplinary team which consists of physical, occupational, speech, and recreational therapists, physicians, dietitians, and social workers.  The team provides holistic care addressing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.  They play a significant role in improving their patient’s quality of life.

The orthopedic/neuro surgery floor takes care of pre- and post-surgery patients. Ortho/Neuro nurses now care for patients after a same day total joint surgery (where the patient has surgery in the morning and is discharged that same afternoon). The acute care floors care for a wide variety of patients. Common patient diagnoses include: COPD, pneumonia, acute kidney injury, urinary tract infection, end stage renal disease, MRSA, diabetes, uncontrolled hypertension, GI bleed, congestive heart failure and sepsis. The diverse patient populations served create the perfect environment for learning skills

The adult (over 18) inpatient behavioral health unit provides individualized treatment for a wide variety of complex mental health concerns. These concerns often impact daily life and place individuals at imminent risk of harm to self or others. The goal of inpatient behavioral health is to stabilize individuals and help them adopt appropriate coping skills to manage daily living and prosper towards wellness.

general surgery/urology floor cares for patients after surgical procedures. Nurses work closely with the surgical oncologists, general surgeons, urologists, oral surgeons and ear, nose and throat surgeons.

Labor and Delivery is a designated regional high risk perinatal unit and therefore provides care to women with obstetrical complications for the 22 surrounding counties.  Staff is comprised of highly skilled RN’s, ORT’s and Unit Coordinators.  The unit is comprised of 14 beds and is responsible for providing care to women and their families during the labor, delivery and birth process.

The mother baby unit provides couplet care for mothers and infants after delivery. Nurses work closely with the obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, neonatologists, lactation consultants and social workers.  Phoebe is proud to be a Baby Friendly designated hospital

The Level III neonatal intensive care unit cares for babies who are born early, have problems during delivery or develop problems and require a higher level of care. The NICU at Phoebe cares for approximately 650 infants annually who require such treatment
